Rostarr: Evolving Landscapes
On Friday, 16 October 2026, Desa Potato Head will unveil Evolving Landscapes, the third chapter of its Cultural Exchange Series and Korean-American artist Rostarr’s largest, most intricate work yet. The programme will bring together art, Balinese ritual, music, projection mapping and fashion across Potato Head Beach Club & Klymax Discotheque.
Created entirely freehand without stencils, Evolving Landscapes draws on Rostarr’s signature Graphysics visual language, combining the discipline of East Asian calligraphy with bold geometric forms. A self-guided digital tour invites visitors to explore individual glyphs and details, accompanied by Rostarr’s memories, references and observations behind the 1,644 m² façade. The event also features an on-site pop-up for a capsule collection made with Japanese label nonnative, which showcases the label’s utilitarian aesthetic incorporating Evolving Landscapes’ monochrome motifs.

Doors open at 3 PM, when Potato Head Beach Club becomes an open-air dancefloor. Archie, Ryosuke Fukunaga, Yuka Mizuhara, Eric Duncan, Alex From Tokyo and Suze Ijó will take turns behind a Rostarr hand-painted DJ booth until midnight. At 5.30 PM, the conversation moves to Klymax for Desa Dialogues, where Rostarr and Daniel Mitchell, Creative Director of Potato Head and founder of Space Available, will discuss their 17-year creative relationship and the journey from the Green Bus.
The artistic programme continues at 6.45 PM with an opening ceremony led by Balinese arts community Bumi Bajra and composer Putu Septa. A procession featuring live gamelan, movement and portable light guides guests from the lobby towards the water. After sunset, projection mapping will bring the mural’s intricate linework to life across the full façade.

From 10 PM, the celebration moves into Klymax Discotheque. Gero opens the night, followed by a back-to-back set from Benedek and Yuka Mizuhara, before Timothy Really Lab takes the programme through to 4 AM.
The mural will remain on the Beach Club façade for 12 months, allowing sunlight, salt and monsoon rain to gradually alter its surface. Its eventual removal will not mark the end of the work, as its materials will be recovered and remade across Desa Potato Head, allowing elements of the project to return in new forms.
Tickets for general admission are priced at IDR 250,000, including one cocktail. For more information, visit this link.
