Padma Musical Series Presents: Iskandar Widjaja feat Niu Niu in Concert
Bali’s most celebrated concert programme, Padma Musical Series, announces the return of their most popular act of 2025. Critically-acclaimed talent, Iskandar Widjaja, is set to grace the stage once again on Sunday, 30 August 2026 at the Plumeria Grand Ballroom, Padma Resort Legian. For this upcoming concert, Iskandar is joined by the young piano prodigy from China, Niu Niu.
Iskandar Widjaja occupies a unique cultural position in Asia: a classical artist with genuine pop star reach – Arte France called him one of “the most exciting violinists on the international circuit.” Born in Berlin of Arab-Dutch and Chinese-Indonesian heritage, Iskandar’s talent was recognised at a young age, further honed at the historic Hanns Eisler Conservatoire, Berlin. Throughout his professional music career he has performed as a soloist with ensembles including the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Munich Philharmonic and Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. He is known for his electric stage presence, attracting a wider audience beyond the classical spheres, creating a vibrant experience for audiences.
The artist joining Iskandar on stage is equally diverting. Zhang Shengliang, better known as Niu Niu, is one of the most exciting young pianists from China. Born in 1997, he is the youngest pianist ever signed to an international classical label (EMI Classics), which was at the age of nine. After graduating from The Juilliard School, New York, he became the youngest recitalist at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, went on to record nine albums (including his own compositions), and has performed at major festivals and concert halls across the world.
This will be Niu Niu’s debut performance in Bali, alongside one of Padma Musical Series’ most popular headliners, Iskandar Widjaja. Their performance will include a wide range of pieces, from Chopin and Beethoven, to a Studio Ghibli Medley, classical arrangements of pop favourites and original compositions by each artist.
