Bali Royal Chilli Festival 2025

Under the management of Taman Safari Indonesia, Taman Safari Bali is thrilled to announce the return of “Bali Royal Chilli Festival 2025”, a culinary and cultural festival celebrating royal Balinese sambal, textiles, coffee, and music.

Held from 29 August to 7 September 2025 at UMA Restaurant, this annual event is organised to promote and preserve the rich tapestry of authentic sambal (spicy Indonesian chilli paste) recipes from the royal kitchens of Bali. This year, the festival will showcase approximately 70 authentic sambal varieties from Balinese palaces, promising an engaging and interactive experience for all Taman Safari Bali and Marine Safari Bali visitors.

Located at the Bale Banjar, the festival’s interactive and immersive exhibition invites visitors to delve deep into Bali’s rich culture. Also showcased at this event are the beautiful traditional motifs and weaving techniques of Royal Fabrics, Royal Music will feature traditional Balinese instruments, and Royal Coffee offers a unique tasting experience, serving an exclusive selection of coffee variants. Professional baristas will also be on hand, and visitors can join the available workshops for those interested in learning how to make their own coffee. The Royal Fabrics, Royal Coffee, and Royal Music will each have their own dedicated ‘palace’ area, creating a unique and immersive display.

As part of our commitment to preserving the nation’s culinary heritage, the objective of this annual event is to preserve and promote Bali’s royal sambal recipes, which are deeply rooted in history and philosophy,” said Alexander Zulkarnain, Acting Chief Marketing Officer of Taman Safari Indonesia Group.

“By involving various cultural elements such as dance, music, traditional fabrics, and even Balinese coffee, we strive to create a festival that is beyond palate, providing a space for education and appreciation of local wisdom. The representative of Puri Karangasem expressed that this festival is more than just a culinary celebration; it is a tangible form of Balinese cultural preservation. Royal sambal recipes that have been passed down through generations can now be enjoyed by the wider community in an atmosphere full of local wisdom.
