IGNITE 2025: A Cultural Fundraiser for a Greener Future
A cultural spectacle will unfold on Saturday, 27 September 2025, as the Green School Foundation brings back its annual ‘IGNITE Fundraising Gala’. Renowned for its extravagant displays of Balinese dance, music and art, decadent dining and community gathering, the special evening is centred around raising funds for agriculture and sustainability-focused education for Balinese students.
This year, IGNITE 2025 returns to the grounds of the Green School Bali Bamboo Campus, transformed into a magical, visual experience on the night. This year’s theme, “Tales of the Shadows”, is inspired by Indonesia’s shadow puppet culture – the traditional medium of wisdom and folklore within society.
As such, the headline act this year is renowned Balinese Dalang (Shadow Puppet Master), I Made Sidia, alongside the Pancer Langiit arts collective. Guests will be treated to a fabulous presentation of traditional wayang, contemporary dance, gamelan music and stage production. As for dinner, the now world-famous Room4Dessert from Ubud will serve an exclusive one-night-only menu crafted especially for the IGNITE Gala, led by the restaurant’s founder, Chef Will Goldfarb.
Of course, fundraising is at the heart of this evening, and after the grand performances and decadent dining, an auction takes place featuring a variety of items from luxurious stays in resorts to timeless pieces of art. The gala dinner and the auction raise funds for the Green School Foundation, which provides educational opportunities for local Balinese students. Initiatives include developing sustainable projects in elementary schools, establishing waste management and permaculture centres, funding skill-based training for Indonesian teachers through the Agricultural University Scholarship Program, and providing full scholarships to children of farmers studying in the field of agriculture, as a way of bolstering a future for Bali’s agriculture industry.
