THE 101 Bali Oasis Sanur

THE 101 Bali Oasis Sanur presents an art exhibition entitled “Naïve Art Paints Paradise” (Naïve Art Melukis Surga). This latest programme further emphasises the hotel’s commitment to preserving local arts and culture.

Held from 15 January 2026 to 15 March 2026, the exhibition showcases the stunning artworks by Ngurah KK, a talented Balinese artist renowned for consistently promoting the Young Artist Style from Penestanan Village, Ubud. His work displays visual honesty, spontaneity, and the power of everyday narratives, steeped in cultural values, humanity, and the relationship between humans and nature.

Located in the hotel’s Lobby area, the exhibition invites visitors to look back at a significant phase in the history of Balinese painting, where the honest expression, visual innocence, and the freedom of expression become the main draws of the works displayed.

The “Naïve Art Paints Paradise” theme represents how young Penestanan painters at the time viewed everyday life as a “paradise”. Through bright colours, bold lines, and spontaneous figures, these works capture the daily lives of village communities – from farming activities and social interactions to human relationships with nature and spirituality – without pretension, yet full of meaning.

In this exhibition, Ngurah KK presents paintings that function not only as visual works but also as cultural archives and social reflections. The Penestanan village is depicted as a simple living space, yet rich in values, beauty, and local wisdom. A paradox between economic simplicity and an abundance of culture and spirituality.

The General Manager of THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur, Mr. Nyoman Astika, stated that this exhibition aligns with the hotel’s vision to be an open space for creative collaboration. “Through the Naïve Art Paints Paradise exhibition, we aim to provide an experience that goes beyond just a stay. We want guests to connect with Bali’s local stories, culture, and values through authentic artwork,” he said.

Furthermore, the exhibition also raises an important message about the changes and challenges facing Bali’s art villages today. The growth of tourism and development has had a significant impact on the cultural and natural landscape. Through an honest and straightforward, naive approach, Ngurah KK’s works remind us that true beauty often arises from simplicity and needs to be preserved together.

The “Naïve Art Paints Paradise” exhibition is open to the public and can be enjoyed by hotel guests and the wider community during the exhibition period. In addition to providing a space for art appreciation, this exhibition is also expected to foster dialogue between artists, art lovers, and the younger generation about the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the environment.
