The 4th Annual Hemingway Chef Cook-Off

On Saturday, 7 March 2026, the annual Hemingway Chef Cook-Off returns for its fourth edition. Hosted at Bali Beach Glamping, the 4^th Annual Hemingway Chef Cookoff is a high-energy culinary competition showcasing Bali’s most prominent chefs.

The annual Hemingway Chef Cook-Off was created to raise funds for mental health initiatives in Bali through the Bali Bisa Bersama (BBB) Foundation, challenging chefs to craft outstanding dishes while guests become the judges, tasting and voting for their favourites.

Four of Bali’s most established chefs will go head-to-head in the competition, including the reigning champion of Hemingway Chef Cook-Off 2025, Chef Fabian Sorlury, the Indonesian Head Chef at Bali Beach Glamping, who specialises in vegan and vegetarian cuisine; Chef I Kadek Suka Merta (Alvin), the culinary mastermind behind the signature dining experience at Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort; Chef Bayu Retno Timur, the Executive Chef at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and winner of the inaugural Hemingway Chef Cook-Off; and Chef Abi Yoga, chef at Ashe Bali who specialises in Global South cuisine.

The BBB Foundation is a collective of ten nonprofit organisations committed to providing free mental health care in Bali. It has successfully launched the BISA Crisis Prevention and Emotional Support Helpline, establishing a fully operational mental health facility in 2023, offering free services such as a 28-day recovery programme, counselling, and medication support, and organising community support groups, art therapy, fitness activities, and fundraising events, including the Freedom Summit.

Recognised by the Indonesian Psychiatric Association, BBB is a leading advocate for mental health awareness and addiction recovery, committed to fostering a stigma-free environment in Bali. In February 2024, BBB expanded its facility to include full-time psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, therapists, and mental health support workers, ensuring accessible, free treatment for those in need.

The event will be held along the serene coastline of West Bali at Bali Beach Glamping, a luxurious beachfront destination where emerald rice fields meet sandy shores. The glamping’s Hemingway Lounge provides the perfect venue for exclusive events like the Hemingway Chef Cook-Off.

During the event, guests can indulge in an immersive evening featuring cocktails, canapés, fine dining, live entertainment, raffles, and auctions. Enlivening the event will be live band and dance performances, and sponsor-hosted alcohol tastings. Meanwhile, the competition format will be a MasterChef-style Black Box Challenge, where each chef is tasked to create original dishes using mystery ingredients, including a wildcard protein revealed during a live pre-event challenge.
