Known for their respect for traditional flavours and recipe, the restaurant and entertainment hotspot Republik 45 are taking a step further into their Indonesian patriotism by hosting a brand new event called “Pasar Malam” on Saturday, 27 February 2016.
Pasar Malam – meaning ‘night market’ in Indonesian -will see the Republik venue transformed into the traditional street market setting found in the country. Expect little shops and vendors to browse through; local, street-style food cooked on the spot at live stations; and live music all night long. It’s a vibrant ambience on the streets and its going to be vibrant in Republik too.
The main performance of the night will be Aray Daulay from the band Steven and the Coconut Trees, and 10% of the evenings beverage sales will be donated to Bali Children Foundation. So come and drink to support a cause (it isn’t often you can say that). The evening is supported by Jose Cuervo.
As the event suggests, Republik will be serving things up market-style; taking their menu, adding a twist to certain dishes and serving them up at live cooking stations set up around their main restaurant area. Street-food in the country is often revered as the most authentic and flavoursome, sought after by even chefs and fine-dining foodies looking for that real Indonesian experience. However, unlike on the street, Republik use 90% gluten free produce and ingredients, which are prepared with the highest standard.
With the tagline “support your local anything”, Republik have pulled together 8 local producers of various goods for you to browse around in the venue. The list includes: Suki Wooden Sunglasses, Mahakali, Bhinneka Cases, Karung Kreatif, Pandava, 7EV7EN, Suedeheadshoes & Wanita Swimwear. You may not be able to bargain like you do on the streets though…!
To keep the ambience vibrant, there are few performers to play throughout the evening. The main performance being Aray Daulay, but also featuring DJ Pyrope (Belgium) and Bolditalic (PNNY- Bali).
Join Pasar Malam for a fun-filled night, done the Indonesian way.
