Bali Ocean Days Conference & Showcase

07 February 2025 - 08 February 2025
InterContinental Bali Resort

On 7 and 8 February 2025, the second edition of Bali Ocean Days will return to the Intercontinental Bali Resort Jimbaran, in partnership with the Archipelagic & Island States Forum. This inclusive conference puts international marine conservation in the spotlight, showcasing important discussions that promote and support a sustainable Blue Economy in Indonesia and beyond.

The two-day conference will feature a stellar lineup of 30 prominent Indonesian and international speakers of different backgrounds and disciplines, including government officials, financial institutions, NGOs, sustainable economy stakeholders and academics. Indeed, the first Bali Ocean Days in January 2024 was lauded for gathering so many different stakeholders under one roof.

Key areas of discussion will be on reducing marine pollution, notably plastic debris, chemical waste and ocean acidification, protecting and restoring coral reefs and mangrove ecosystems, reversing the overfishing crisis, empowering coastal communities through education, and more. Speakers will share their key challenges, present policies, and explore synergies and long-term action plans capable of safeguarding our marine environment. Invited speakers and presenters include representatives from international organisations, such as David Aromokeye (The World Bank Group) and Marco Garcia-Leon (UNODC); conservation experts like Dr. Britta Hardesty (CSIRO Environment) and Meizani Irmadhiany (Conservation International); to academics, including Anna von Rebay, a specialist in marine protection law and founder of Ocean Vision Legal.

Each day of the conference will cover different themes and topics, including a new selection of panellists to share their insights. Across both days will be an ‘Impact Showcase’, an exhibition of organisations actively involved in ocean conservation and sustainability, from eco-marine tourism stakeholders, green tech leaders, environmental NGOs and waste management operators. Finally, the second day of the conference will culminate with the Sky Blue Sea Foundation Award closing ceremony, during which Dr. Vincent Pieribone, the New York-based Co-CEO and Chief Science Officer of OceanX, will receive the foundation’s highest honour in recognition of the groundbreaking ‘Indonesia Mission 2024’.

Conference runs from 8.30am to 5pm at the Imperial Ballroom 3-4, Jimbaran Convention Center, InterContinental Bali Resort.
