READY TO BE SEEN N.1

The first in a planned series of nine exhibitions, the READY TO BE SEEN N.1 showcase at BIASA Art Ubud brings together the works of Jasmine Ansori and Josephine Kingsley, two artists living and working in Bali whose practices explore memory, perception, materiality, and the subtle traces left by experience.

Running from 1 September to 15 November 2026, the READY TO BE SEEN N.1 exhibition forms part of the ongoing commitment of BIASA Art to giving artists new to the public eye a platform to present their work. It encourages visitors to engage with new practices at accessible price points, creating an opportunity for those who connect with a work to take their first step into collecting or commissioning art.

Born in 1997 and educated in Fine Arts at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Jasmine Ansori is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves between fine art, graphic design, and digital media. Her work is driven by research, experimentation, and an interest in imagery capable of triggering emotion and evoking a feeling of liminality.

For READY TO BE SEEN N.1, Ansori returns to drawing through a series of charcoal landscapes. Natural forms emerge, disappear, and reappear across the surface, presented through a simplified and repeated visual language that places particular emphasis on her control of charcoal powder.

Born in 2000 and educated at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, Josephine Kingsley approaches painting and mixed media through an intuitive and materially focused practice. Self-taught in her artistic development, she has built her language through independent exploration and experimentation.

Found materials, texture, imperfections, and layered surfaces become ways of considering how personal and collective experiences can remain embedded within physical things. Kingsley brings a distinctly material perspective to an exhibition that ultimately asks viewers to consider how things like landscapes, objects, surfaces, and memories retain traces of what has happened before.
