Buki Gallery at Bumi Kinar presents SAMATRA: Quiet Gestures, a group exhibition running from 25 July to 3 October 2026. Featuring works by A. Jasmine, Dyah Ayu Wulandari, Made Virgie Avianthy, Novieta Tourisia and Studio Estéh, it illustrates that change begins with an awareness that grows within the everyday.

In Balinese, ‘Samatra’ carries a variety of meanings: a simple offering, a brief greeting, a sincere welcome, or something given in moderation. Drawing on these interpretations, the exhibition presents works by artists that reflect their relationship with nature, living spaces and everyday life through overlooked gestures, as explained by the exhibition’s curator, Gustra Adnyana.

Studio Estéh explores the paradoxes of thought and the limits of perspective. Novieta Tourisia presents a dialogue between earth, plants, fabric and the body as a single life cycle. Made Virgie Avianthy examines how a person remains alive through memories, stories and inherited rituals. A. Jasmine uses erasing as a means of remembering, finding light in the darkness. Dyah Ayu Wulandari offers a reminder that every human step or action is grounded on the same Earth, with the power to sustain or destroy.

In addition, Buki Gallery will present a series of public programmes, ranging from artist meet-and-greets and discussions to workshops that broaden the conversation on art, the environment and everyday practices. All programmes will take place at Bumi Kinar, a private resort that blends traditional Balinese architecture with modern design touches amidst Ubud’s lush green landscape.
