‘Return to Roots’ Charity Dinner at Apéritif Restaurant

Prepare for an evening of exquisite dining and meaningful fundraising as Apéritif Restaurant hosts ‘Return to Roots: Sumba’s Story, Told in Ubud.’ Taking place on Thursday, 4 December 2025, this one-of-a-kind experience will see three of Ubud’s top fine dining destinations coming together to raise funds for the Sumba Hospitality Foundation.

The Sumba Hospitality Foundation is a vocational school located in West Sumba, focused on breaking the cycle of poverty in the region through education, training and work experience. With only a handful of hotels, resorts and restaurants in the region, many students are given the opportunity to work in top Bali venues, starting brand new careers and receiving sustainable job opportunities.

The ‘Return to Roots’ dinner will focus on raising funds for this great foundation, a joint effort by three restaurants that already work closely with Sumba Hospitality Foundation: Apéritif Restaurant, Syrco BASÈ and Locavore NXT. But this is not simply a dinner ‘for’ Sumba, but also ‘by’ Sumba, with each kitchen being represented by Sumba-born chefs who began their own culinary education at the Sumba Hospitality Foundation, supported by their respective teams.

Dinner guests will enjoy a six-course menu featuring distinctive flavours and stories from each chef; what’s more all the cocktails served during the evening are crafted by bartender alumni of Sumba Hospitality Foundation. The bartenders will be collaborating behind the bar at Pinstripe Bar to create a beverage journey inspired by Sumba’s landscapes, ingredients and traditions.

Priced at IDR 1,500,000++ per person, the event includes:
