The Pasta Heist 2.0: Uma Cucina’s 13th Anniversary
Three evenings, one venue and plenty of pasta: this September, Uma Cucina at COMO Uma Ubud welcomes back Chef Diego Martinelli for the second edition of The Pasta Heist, marking the restaurant’s 13th anniversary with a celebration of Italian cooking.
From 21 to 23 September 2026, Chef Diego, founder of CIBO! Bali, returns to the Uma Cucina kitchen following the success of last year’s collaboration. Born in Bologna, in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, the chef brings more than 25 years of experience shaped by kitchens across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including Four Seasons Hotels, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts and Ferrari’s Il Cavallino. His cooking remains firmly rooted in the traditions of his homeland, with handmade pasta, quality ingredients and the generous spirit of Italian dining at its core.
For The Pasta Heist 2.0, Chef Diego and the Uma Cucina team have put together a menu that revisits Italian classics with thoughtful contemporary touches. Tortellini al Ragù brings Bologna to Bali with handmade tortellini, traditional beef Bolognese ragù, and nutmeg-scented béchamel, while Seafood Linguine pairs artisanal pasta with seafood bisque, live tiger prawns, garlic, and chilli.
Other highlights include Vitello Tonnato, featuring thinly sliced veal tenderloin, tuna sauce, and crispy capers; Tuna Crudo with smoked eggplant, stracciatella, and pistachio crumbs; and Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, given an unexpected lift with Pecorino Romano, pickled grapes, roasted almonds, and fresh black pepper.
The menu also moves beyond pasta, with comforting plates such as braised pork belly with pumpkin purée and red onion jam, and seared barramundi with roasted asparagus, basil-whipped potatoes, caper and lemon butter. To finish, guests can choose between classics including Tiramisu and a hot chocolate lava cake with single-origin cocoa, salted caramel and fior di latte gelato.
The Pasta Heist 2.0 runs from 6pm to 11pm, with dishes individually priced and subject to 21% government tax and service charge.
