‘SHIPIBO-KONIBO: Portraits of My Blood’ Exhibition

Presented by the Peru Embassy Indonesia and CushCush Gallery, the ‘SHIPIBO-KONIBO: Portraits of My Blood’ exhibition is an intimate visual exploration of the daily life of one of Peru’s indigenous communities, inhabiting the Amazon Rainforest.

Opened on 5 December 2025 by the Ambassador of Peru to Indonesia, H.E. Luis Tsuboyama, this photography exhibition offers a window into livelihoods and culture on the other side of the world. As a native son of the Shipibo–Konibo community, award winning Photographer David Díaz Gonzáles presents an intimate visual exploration of the daily life of the Indigenous peoples who have inhabited the Amazon Rainforest along the Ucayali River for more than 1,000 years.

Known for their deep ethnobotanical knowledge, remarkable medicinal practices, and their iconic Kené patterns, which embody their cosmology, spirituality, and a holistic philosophy that celebrates consciousness and balance between humans, spirits, energies, and the universe.

The Shipibo-Konibo people have a dynamic culture that is undergoing a period of transition, and many things will not remain the same in the years to come. With this in mind, David feels that this is the moment to document these changes, using photography as the means through which the memory of his people can be preserved.
Shipibo-Konibo: Portraits of My Blood serves as a welcoming introduction to the rich cultures of Latin America, especially Peru, in Bali.

Open for public, exhibition is open for a limited time only: 6 to 19 Dec 2025, 10am to 5pm.
