Rare Angon International Kite Festival 2026
From 23-26 July 2026, the ‘Rare Angon’ Kite Festival will take place on Mertasari Beach, Sanur. This annual festival is a showcase of community, culture and creativity, one of the most grand kite displays of the island. Don’t miss the unique nighttime show where LED-fitted kites will light up the night sky in spectacular fashion!
The four day festival will feature a range of different kites, from Bali, Indonesia and across the world, and is a true international affair.
Every day there’s something different:
23 July: International Kite Flying | 10am-6pm
24 July: International Kite Flying and Puppet Kite Flying | 10am – 9pm
25-26 July: Bali Kite Competition and Night Kite Flying | 1am – 5pm (continues with evening event)
There are paid shuttles operating from 4 parking areas:
• Jalan Wira (near McD Sanur)
• Central Parking IOT (in front of Andaz)
• Central Parking Semang Point (in front of Santorini Restaurant)
• Mertasari Beach
Rooted in Balinese culture, the festival honours Sang Hyang Rare Angon, the deity believed to summon the wind, while showcasing the island’s magnificent traditional bebean, pecukan, and sacred janggan kites.
