Threads of Life Presents Textile Exhibition and Film Premiere
From 27 February to 30 April 2026, at Jenggala Keramik, Threads of Life presents an exhibition of exceptional textiles curated from 1,200 weavers across the islands of Indonesia, including Sulawesi, Sabu, Timor, and Sumba.
The opening day premiered Mother of The Blue Darkness, one of six films produced by Threads of Life in collaboration with Asa Films. It follows a Sumbanese family that continues to practice and pass down the traditions of indigo dyeing, weaving, and reading the stories embedded in textiles.

Mother of The Blue Darkness is part of Tradition Keepers, a documentary series that gathers stories of resilience and resistance of communities who safeguard ancestral knowledge and sustain cultural traditions. The full series will be available on Threads of Life’s YouTube channel in the coming months.
The opening program also featured a talk with Threads of Life co-founder, William Ingram. Throughout the exhibition, visitors will encounter the stories of weavers through the intricacy of Sulawesi’s mud-dyed morilotong ikat, Sabu’s ei raja and ei ledo, Timor’s complex tais, Sumba’s hinggi, and basketry from Kalimantan.
