With the theme of Palemahan, also known as the guidance of relationship between human and nature, the solo exhibition by Gede Oka Astawa at Griya Art Gallery represents the artist’s view as a Balinese on current ecological issues. In one of his paintings titled “Petani” (farmer) as an example, Oka portrays the state of many farming lands that have covered their functions from agrarian to industrial. Oka highlights the shifting of ecological and social orders in the midst of the tourism boom in Bali as a reminder that nature conservation and rehabilitation needs to be carried out as an investment for the future of Bali.
