Recognised at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Southeast Asia Awards 2026, Bali-born sustainability consultancy Eco-Mantra is gaining significant attention for its work with leading hospitality and tourism projects, including Waterbom Bali.
Sustainability is increasingly becoming a defining consideration in the hospitality industry, but turning environmental ambitions into measurable results requires more than good intentions. For the 18-person Ubud-based Eco-Mantra, this is where the work begins. The firm has recently received regional recognition, winning the Environmental Impact Award at the RICS Southeast Asia Awards 2026 for its environmental design work with Waterbom Bali.

Presented at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore on 30 October 2026, the award recognises three projects Eco-Mantra delivered with Waterbom Bali in 2025. These included energy audits and hydrodynamic design for Waterbom’s new Kids Area expansion, the Environmentally Sustainable (ESD) concept for a neighbouring development featuring a 1.48-hectare rainforest-themed lazy river, and its involvement in the park’s Karmic Returns programme, which monitors and reports environmental performance on a quarterly basis.
The results offer a closer look at how these initiatives translate into everyday operations. Despite opening its new Kids Area in 2025, Waterbom Bali sent just 0.7% of its waste to landfill, against a target of below 3%. The park also reduced groundwater consumption by 28.7%, saving 46,124 cubic metres against its baseline, while electricity use fell by 8.8%, which is twice its targeted reduction of 4.3%.
Eco-Mantra has worked as Waterbom Bali’s environmental design consultant since 2016, supporting the park’s longer-term sustainability ambitions. In 2024, Waterbom committed to reaching net zero by 2033, becoming Indonesia’s only tourism business with near-term emissions targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiatives.

The award is also part of a wider portfolio of work: two of their projects were shortlisted at this year’s RICS Southeast Asia Awards, with its work on Mandarin Oriental Resort Bali also named a finalist in the Environmental Impact Award category.
Established in 2015, Eco-Mantra works with property owners, developers and hospitality brands to integrate sustainability into projects from initial concept and design through to daily operations. With over 120 projects completed across the region, the consultancy has built a portfolio that extends beyond Bali, while maintaining a team comprising more than 80% Indonesian talent.
For co-founder and CEO Maitri Fischer, the recognition reflects the company’s belief that sustainability should create value across environmental, social and economic dimensions. It is an approach that places practical outcomes alongside design, demonstrating how the region’s hospitality developments can continue to evolve while becoming more mindful of the natural environments they depend on.
