New Restaurants in Bali - Junsei 1

On Bali’s southeast coast, where Sanur’s gentle rhythm continues to draw a new wave of interest, Junsei introduces a refined yet relaxed dining concept rooted in Japanese tradition. Originally founded in London in 2021, the modern ‘yakitori-ya’ arrives on Jalan Tamblingan with a clear philosophy: simplicity, executed with precision.

At the heart of Junsei is the art of yakitori – skewers grilled over binchōtan charcoal using traditional shichirin grills. Under the direction of Executive Chef Aman Lakhiani, the menu reflects a disciplined approach shaped by years of experience across Japan and Europe. Each skewer highlights the ingredient’s natural character, with minimal intervention and a focus on balance, texture, and consistency. Complementing the grill is a concise selection of izakaya-style plates, from crab-filled chicken wings to Balinese black pork katsu sandwiches, alongside rice dishes and seasonal offerings.

The experience extends beyond the plate. Tamba by Junsei, the venue’s vinyl-led listening bar, transitions from a tea room by day into an intimate evening space where music, atmosphere, and dining unfold in harmony. The 50-seat interior blends natural materials with understated design, anchored by the open grill and the warm hum of vinyl. In a neighbourhood quietly evolving, Junsei brings a thoughtful addition to Sanur’s dining scene – where craft, culture, and a slower, more deliberate pace come together with ease.

Open Tue-Thu from 5 PM to 11 PM and Fri-Sun from 11 AM to 11 PM.
