Recently opened last month, an all-day dining experience called Parachute, is located in the heart of Berawa and pays homage to its name perfectly with the dining terrace and garden positioned under the 64 foot wide and 19,5 meters high sheer olive parachute. The place encompasses the local community vibe, unassumingly sophisticated and playful. There are two main elements that lead the interior design of the building, the parachute and the kitchen. The Parachute floats over the centre of the site, while the timber deck below playfully steps down to the landscape, allowing people to interact with space organically. A brick-built open fire grill and oven make for a spectacular backdrop to the dining area. Whilst the focal point of the space is the vintage cargo parachute, also used are repurposed shutters featured on the facade, the timber decking and the pergola ceiling on the chef’s deck. These found items collectively bring a sense of charm and spirit to the space, while also communicating the sustainable vision of the Parachute brand.
