“Roso” means “flavour” or “feeling” in Javanese, which reflects the restaurant’s approach to Indonesian cuisine. Instead of representing a single regional cooking practice, it explores the full breadth of ingredients, spices, and traditions from the highlands of Sumatra and the kitchens of Java to the coastal flavours of Bali.
The concept also connects to Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, and his vision of preserving the country’s cultural richness while bringing its diverse communities together under the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. At Roso, this idea is expressed through food, with regional specialities presented as part of a broader Indonesian culinary story.
The restaurant’s interiors incorporate textures and artistic details inspired by the country’s tapestry, while indoor and outdoor seating allows guests to dine amid lush greenery and the gentle ocean breeze. The chill atmosphere provides a fitting backdrop for a dining experience that balances familiar traditional cuisine with a modern look.
